Clutterers Are Creative

I was at the doctors office, in the waiting room, and you know how notorious they are for old magazines....well I found a Jan/Feb 2007 article that was all about ME!

"Clutterers Are Creative", says one expert. "They are people with a lot of interests."
But the materials for the creative project stack up, while the
projects remain uncompleted.

I knew there was a reason I hang on to magazines waiting till I have time to deconstruct them and why I always have 5 or 6 unfinished projects lying around. Is this why I can't figure out what I want to be when I grow up...it's that damn creative gene? Probably not, but it's nice to have something to blame it on. I'm thinking I need a plaque for my studio. Yes, I do! photo to come...

What do I want to be when I grow up???

Even though I'm grown and qualify for a "special discount" at most places, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. There are so many different things I want to do like, make jewelry, create journals and paper crafts, write a book, learn to paint...

Does this mean I want to be some sort of artist. When someone asks me what "I do" it sounds so presumptuous to say "I'm an artist". Should I say "I want to be an artist"...that doesn't sound right either.

So, what am I?

visit with mother

When I stopped to take a picture of this pelican from the Pensacola Pelican Parade, a worker in the area asked if I "would like a natural Floridian to pose with the duck." Obviously, he wasn't a 'natural Floridian'!

I went to visit with my mother today and she gets worse each time I see her. She is not eating and has lost down to 100.7 lbs. Today she didn't feel well but, was her usual recalcitrant self, refusing to get up to take her shower. How do you reason with someone with Alzheimer's that forgets what you are talking about part way through your conversation. Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease. Every time mother asks about her parents and I have to tell her that they have been dead for a long, long time, she cries and grieves all over. So far she knows who I am but sometimes has to ask how many children she has. The Alzheimer's is only part of the plethora of other illnesses she's coping with. What do you do???

This is my very first post! (tap, tap, tap....anyone out there??) I read a number of blogs each and every day and wanted to take the leap to hopefully push myself to join some of the groups and make more art. We'll see how it goes!

The photo above was taken at Christ Church in Pensacola, Florida. I love the looks on their sweet little faces. I received a wonderful Canon Rebel xt for my birthday and a telephoto lense for Christmas. This was my first use of the lense. I love that camera!

I also took photos of wrought iron around town. I find the different shapes and forms of wrought iron to be very interesting. Hopefully, I'll be able to get over to Foley, Alabama in the next week to take some pictures of the corn wrought iron fence there. It is very unusual. I've read that there are a couple more of the corn fences in New Orleans. Since we will be moving next month to an area that's only one hour away from New Orleans, hopefully, I'll be able to take more photos of the wrought iron in that area...
